Following on our discussion of concepts related to global agricultural production, your homework is to:
1) Finish your collaborative Google Docs comparing the explanations of the historical development of agriculture in the following two sources
2) Use Barron's to to create Quizlet flashcards for all Economic Geography concepts (we will work on Agricultural ones on Wednesday). Must focus not only on terms in the glossary, but also concepts such as location principles, which are not in the glossary.
3) Practice all of those cards several times, until memorized.
Oh, and incidentally, I discovered a new town that you might find amusing (see below).
1) Finish your collaborative Google Docs comparing the explanations of the historical development of agriculture in the following two sources
- Barron’s pp. 248-250
- “Agricultural Geography Concepts” pp. 211-217 (on Google Drive)
- How is agriculture impacted by the four global forces described by Lawrence Smith in The World in 2050?
2) Use Barron's to to create Quizlet flashcards for all Economic Geography concepts (we will work on Agricultural ones on Wednesday). Must focus not only on terms in the glossary, but also concepts such as location principles, which are not in the glossary.
- NOTE: If you are worried that studying concept "out of order" is counter-productive, well, you're wrong! Going back and forth between concepts, which is known as interleaved practice, actually enhances retention in memory. Here is a simple explanation and here is a peer-reviewed academic study from UCLA.
3) Practice all of those cards several times, until memorized.
